Ron Paul on Immigration and Iowa

From time to time, I’m going to send you my thoughts during this campaign.  Your support is so important to me, and I want you to know what’s happening.

Today, we had good news from the US Senate—not exactly a normal occurrence—when the president’s immigration bill went down in flames.

Here we had a vastly expensive piece of legislation that would have made the immigration problem worse, and put more controls on the economy.  So naturally, the entire establishment was behind it.  It was a slam-dunk, or so they thought.  Then the American people got riled up, and despite all the special interests, the pressure, the media, and the money, scared the politicians enough to vote the right way.

If our campaign succeeds, this will happen on a whole range of issues.  The politicians will hear from the people on foreign wars, high taxes, Fed inflation, and all the other plagues visited on us by DC.  And listen they will.

And speaking of our campaign, I am very excited by the Iowa rally this Saturday (http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=16OCg4C1fq5W47gNJo_2bDHw_3d_3d).  This is an historic moment.  Of course, the Iowa Christian Alliance and Iowans for Tax Relief had the right to exclude the most pro-life, anti-tax candidate in the race.  But when they did so, people rose up.  So we are holding a rally that will reverberate around this country.  Our campaign goes from strength to strength, but I am convinced that this Saturday will be very important in the fight for a free, peaceful, and prosperous America.

Maybe you can come to the rally.  In any event, I know you’ll be there in spirit, and I’ll write you all about it afterwards.  Your support in this race means everything to my family and me.

Warmest regards,

Ron

PS:  Because of people like you, I don’t need the $100 million the establishment candidates will have.  But I do need your help.  $25, $50, $100, or even more--whatever you can send would do so much good, and be so much help.  Thank you!

Ron Paul in New Hampshire

On Friday June 22nd, Congressman Ron Paul made his third trip to New Hampshire.

The first stop was the recording of Arnie Arnesen's television show "Political Chowder" which aired on Sunday the 24th.  "Political Chowder" is seen in over two million households across New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Vermont and Maine.  The program is also broadcast on public access channels across the state during the week.

Dr. Paul then taped two radio shows at WXKL studios in Concord.  One was for WXKL's 1450 AM political news, and the other for New Hampshire Taxpayer Radio with Ed Naile and Jane Aitken, likely to air in July.

He then attended a dinner with New Hampshire pro-life activists at the Chateau Restaurant in Manchester, arranged by Barbara Hagan.  The turnout was excellent, with over 30 pro-life leaders showing up to meet Dr. Paul and hear him speak about issues that are important to the pro-life community.

Help! More room needed.

Cimg0295_3 Good news:  The Ron Paul 2008 campaign is growing!

Bad news:  We’ve run out of space to work.

The Ron Paul 2008 campaign started in the corner of a one-bedroom apartment.  It then moved to a small office of 348 square feet, which is where we are now.  But our present office has become too small to accommodate the fast-growing campaign...and we need your help to expand.

Our present office is so small that we can't hire the much-needed additional staff for a national campaign.  We even have to turn away volunteers because we simply don't have room for them.

Office space in the D.C. area is expensive, and landlords expect tenants to sign at least a three-year lease; preferably a five-year lease.  But after we canvassed the area by foot and called numerous leasing agents and watched the local classifieds and checked CraigsList each day, we found a place!  It's a sub-lease situation with flexible terms that we just couldn't pass up.

We will have the second floor of a modest, older, two-story building in Arlington, Virginia.  It's only two blocks from a Metro station, making it convenient for staff and volunteers.  The office is on a busy street; across from a very busy grocery store.  Large windows will be perfect for a "Ron Paul 2008" banner!  But most importantly, the new office will give us the space to build a national campaign.

However, office space here is expensive regardless of how modest the building is.  And most landlords require political campaigns to pay the total rent in advance.

So we need your help.

We plan to move on July 15th.  To do so, we will need to give the landlord a check for $54,000.00.

Will you help us write that check?

Enthusiasm for Ron Paul's bid for the presidency grows by the day.  Our goal:  put Ron Paul in the White House.  And we all know why.

Help us write that check.  Donate today by going to https://www.ronpaul2008.com/donate/

Thank you!

Ron Paul in Arizona

Republican presidential candidate Congressman Ron Paul was in Phoenix, Arizona on Saturday, June 16th to speak to the fourteenth annual Arizona Republican Assembly (ARA) convention.

For those unfamiliar with the ARA, according to former President Ronald Reagan, the ARA is "the Republican wing of the Republican Party, the conscience of the Republican Party."

Dr. Paul addressed a sold-out crowd of ARA members and guests delivering his signature message that harkens back to the fundamental principles America was founded upon:  limited constitutional government, personal responsibility, low taxes, free markets, non-intervention and sound monetary policies.  Dr. Paul’s speech was heartily received.

According to Tony Mackelprang, past president, Arizona Republican Assembly, "Ironically, Paul's dedication to founding principles has resulted in his being 'the lone voice in the wilderness' when compared not only with Democrats but with Republican Presidential Candidates, as incredible as it may seem.  Thank you congressman for providing your fellow Americans with a viable choice, for providing "Hope for America!"

However, before the ARA convention, Congressman Paul, upon his arrival at Phoenix Sky Harbor, was welcomed by more than 150 enthusiastic supporters (some from Tucson and farther).  This welcome turned into an impromptu rally with Dr. Paul speaking on the issues, signing autographs, and taking pictures with supporters, for nearly an hour.  In addition to the original Ron Paul supporters, many other travelers stopped to hear the presidential candidate speak, including one gentleman who arrived wearing an Obama shirt but left wearing a Ron Paul Revolution shirt, having converted after hearing Dr. Paul’s speech.

In addition to local media, photographers from the NY Times were traveling with Dr. Paul for an upcoming NY Times Sunday Magazine article.  Stay tuned for more details.

Des Moines, Iowa Rally on Saturday, June 30th

Congressman Ron Paul is coming to Des Moines, Iowa Saturday, June 30th to hold a rally, where he will share his message of freedom, peace and prosperity.

Everyone is welcome to attend.

We are expecting many supporters, both from Iowa and around America, to come and hear Dr. Paul.

As you may know, Congressman Ron Paul was excluded from the Presidential Candidates Forum sponsored by Iowans for Tax Relief and Iowa Christian Alliance that is scheduled to take place that same day.
Although we would have liked to have participated, we see a wonderful opportunity to demonstrate to Iowa voters, the broad base of support for Dr. Paul.

So, right after the Presidential Forum, starting at 4:30 PM, Dr. Paul will hold his own rally, where he will share his positive and compelling message for America.

Our rally will be held at the same building as the Presidential Forum. We will be at the Hy-Vee Hall, Room C, Iowa Events Center, 730 Third Street, Des Moines, Iowa.

Please come out to show your support.

Details about the event can be found here: http://eventful.com/events/E0-001-005011869-5

Help us prepare for the event by filling out this RSVP form. If you are attending as part of a larger group, please have your organizer or leader fill out this form. If you are attending as an individual, fill out this form for you and your guests.

Ron Paul in Kansas City

Kansas City enthusiastically welcomed Congressman Ron Paul last Friday, June 15th.

Dr. Paul started the day with an interview by the editorial board of the Kansas City Star.  Afterwards, he spoke to the National Right to Life Convention where he received a standing ovation.  A reporter for the Los Angeles Times then interviewed Dr. Paul for over an hour for a major article to be published in a few weeks.  After the interview, Missouri State Representative Jim Guest hosted a luncheon for Dr. Paul.  They were joined by Missouri State Representative Brian Yates.

That evening, enthusiasm for Ron Paul’s campaign for president was in full display at the historic Uptown theater in midtown Kansas City.  The Ron Paul Kansas City MeetUp group and others organized a rally for Dr. Paul at the Uptown.  Theater management estimated the crowd to be over 700 people.

There were people of all ages in the crowd; from all walks for life.  They were friendly, energetic and eager to support Dr. Paul's campaign for president.  Missouri Representative Jim Guest introduced Congressman Paul to the cheering crowd.  They gave Dr. Paul an enthusiastic welcome that would make any of the other presidential candidates envious.

Throughout the day, a two-man camera crew from the New York Times photographed Dr. Paul for an upcoming article in the New York Times Sunday magazine.  The crew traveled with Dr. Paul to Phoenix the next day.

Ron Paul Excluded in Iowa, pt. 2

Jan Mickelson of WHO News Radio 1040 in Des Moines interviewed Ron Paul 2008 chairman Kent Snyder about Ron Paul being excluded from the upcoming candidates forum sponsored by Iowans for Tax Relief and Iowa Christian Alliance.  Ed Failor of Iowans for Tax Relief joined the interview later to explain why his group decided to keep Ron Paul out.

"Congressman Ron Paul isn't welcome at the Iowans for Tax Relief and Iowa Christian Alliance candidates forum.  Oversight?  Nope.  Kent Snyder from Ron Paul's campaign and Ed Failor from ITR exchange words.  Lotsa them." -- Wednesday, June 20, 2007, WHO News Radio 1040

Ron Paul Excluded in Iowa

Iowans for Tax Relief and Iowa Christian Alliance will host a presidential candidates forum on Saturday, June 30th in Des Moines.  Republican presidential candidates Mitt Romney, Sam Brownback, Jim Gilmore, Mike Huckabee, Tommy Thompson, and Tom Tancredo will participate.

Ron Paul, however, will not participate.  Why?  Because he wasn’t invited.

We heard about this forum from numerous supporters in Iowa who asked why Dr. Paul was not going to participate.  Those supporters assumed that Dr. Paul was invited.

The campaign office had not received an invitation so we called this morning; thinking we might have misplaced the invitation or simply overlooked it.  Lew Moore, our campaign manager, called Mr. Edward Failor, an officer of Iowans for Tax Relief, to ask about it.  To our shock, Mr. Failor told us Dr. Paul was not invited; he was not going to be invited; and he would not be allowed to participate.  And when asked why, Mr. Failor refused to explain.  The call ended.

Lew then called Mr. Steve Scheffler, president of the Iowa Christian Alliance, to talk with him.  Mr. Scheffler did not answer so Lew left a message.  He has yet to respond.

Why are the Iowans for Tax Relief and the Iowa Christian Alliance excluding the one Republican candidate who scored at the top of every online poll taken after the MSNBC, Fox News, and CNN debates?  Why are they denying Iowans the opportunity to hear from the Republican presidential candidate whose popularity is growing by the day?

We couldn’t get answers to these questions from Messrs. Failor and Scheffler.  Maybe you’ll have better luck.  Their contact information is below.

It's ironic that on the same day we learned the Iowans for Tax Relief and the Iowa Christian Alliance excluded Dr. Paul from their candidates forum, we received a call from ABC News confirming Dr. Paul’s participation in its nationally broadcast August 5th debate to be held in Des Moines.
