North American Union Would Erase U.S. Borders

"Supporters of U.S. borders and sovereignty urge more Americans to join Congressman Tom Tancredo (R-Colo.), Virgil Goode (R-Va.), Ron Paul (R-Texas) and Walter Jones (R-N.C.) in fighting a little-known plan to create a North American Union."

Dean Ayers, 03/16/07

Note:  Congressmen Tancredo, Goode and Jones are members of Congressman Paul's Liberty Caucus.

"A Dark Horse Shines"

"A 'dark horse'?  Well, let’s call him a horse of a different color.  Which may explain why a lot of people want to see his campaign stopped at the starting gate.  The last thing people who like the status quo want is this dark horse running out front."

Paul Jacob,  03/15/07

"Support Ron Paul For President"

"The importance of his [Ron Paul's] run for office must be recognized by the people, with/without help from the mainstream media and powers that be.  He will bring issues and excitement to the debates which have not been seen, at least in recent times."

Ron Paul: The Exception

"As a result, Republican primary votes are looking for -- but have not found -- an effective conservative leader. Over the last 10 years, no Republican has stepped forward as a conservative leader.  While all of the GOP presidential candidates but Rudy Guiliani claim to be a conservative, none of them have consistently spoken out against the liberal excesses of President Bush and the former Republican-controlled Congress, with the exception of Ron Paul."

Richard Viguerie, 03/15/07

"Moved-up primaries offer mixed blessings"

"WASHINGTON — Texas and more than 20 other states are eyeing early February primaries and caucuses to increase their political clout in 2008 — a move that critics say will only benefit well-heeled candidates and special moneyed interests."

Local Newspaper Comments

Michael Morris comments on Congressman Ron Paul's candidacy for president.  He is the assistant managing editor of The Facts newspaper; one of the major newspapers in Congressman Paul's home district.

"Paul simply is a good man whose motivation for seeking the White House is because he believes in this country and wants to make it better.  He’s someone whose ideas should spur debate of the issues, and whose honest, straight talk should attract the following of the millions of Americans who say they are fed up with politics as usual."

"Can Ron Paul Win?"

"Ron’s political base is fiscal conservatives, anti-tax citizens, anti-war Republicans, Democrats and Independents, constitutionalists, hard-money advocates, small business owners, civil libertarians, anti-universal healthcare physicians, pro-lifers, parents who home school, and anyone else who considers himself a real patriot.  In other words, if Ron’s substantial base provides him with volunteers, contributions and votes, he would be a very competitive candidate."

Ron Paul: Taxpayers' Friend

“If every member of Congress voted like Representative Paul, Americans could enjoy much lower taxes and less waste in government,” stated NTU [National Taxpayers Union] President John Berthoud. “Overburdened taxpayers in Texas and across the nation owe Mr. Paul a debt of gratitude for his hard work on their behalf.”

Baytown, Texas Resident Reacts to Paul Candidacy

"For Baytown resident and Vietnam-era veteran Warren Fitts, Paul’s experience as a flight surgeon in the 1960s in the U.S. Air Force and Air National Guard is a plus.

"Fitts and several other local servicemen honored Paul last summer for his commitment to addressing benefits for veterans and awarding long-deserved medals and commendations.

"'There are very few veterans who are running,' he said. 'He’s very respectful of veterans and their families. He’s a lifesaver, and he takes compassion in people, especially those that serve this country.'

"During the reception, Fitts mentioned to the congressman that his son Stephen is serving in the Air Force — a detail that Paul brought up again in a later meeting.

"'The fact that he remembered means something to me,' Fitts said. 'He’s a heck of a guy, and I think he’d be pretty awesome in the (White House).'"

"Paul formally launches presidential bid"

"Paul said he was running for the GOP presidential nomination to restore the Republican Party – which he said has become the party of big government – and return to a non-interventionist foreign policy.

"'The American people are sick and tired of what they are getting,' Paul said. 'I'm confident the Republican Party has gone in the wrong direction.'"
